Dear Journal,

Over the past few months, so many of my friends have become mothers. I’ve celebrated with them, co-signed with their struggles and cheered them on…we are each other’s support system.  As I sit back and enjoy all the ups and downs the motherhood rollercoaster takes me on, it fills me with so much joy to know I have a tribe of women who are on the ride with me. Beautiful women. Strong women. Cheerful women. Supportive women. Women like Dale.

Where do I start with a woman like Dale? I mean…she is literally one of THE sweetest spirits I’ve ever met. I met her while at The University of Georgia where we both danced in Pamoja Dance Company and for as long as I can remember, I’ve never seen her in a negative mood. She’s always smiling, laughing and you can always count on her to find the positive in everything. Dale is and always has been such a bright light. Throughout the years, I’ve watched Dale graduate, pursue a career and become a wife. I was so excited to photograph her in this new chapter of her life. Motherhood looks SO good on her! Watching her with Baby Gwen…I swear this woman was meant to be a mother.

What made Dale’s Mother’s Day session at Sims Lake Park in Suwannee, Georgia even more special was that it wasn’t just for her and Baby Gwen. Dale’s beautiful mama and Gwen’s other nanas were also present! And they all are SOOOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL inside and out! I absolutely LOVE capturing generations of women together! Our grandmothers, mothers and aunts…their love, wisdom and nurturing helps shape us into the women we grow up to become. With the amount of strength and grace Gwen is surrounded by….this little girl is so RICH! I had SO many favorites from our time together!

I’m LOVING all of this female power! Baby Gwen, you sure do have some good looking grandmas/nanas girlfriend!

Dale, to know you and be in your family’s presence….I’m in awe of all of you! You all are so fun, giving and have hearts of gold. Thank you for allowing me to capture your first Mother’s Day with all these amazing women! Gwen is SO lucky to have you as her mama!
