A NIGHT TO SHINE | CHANGE POINT ALASKA | TIM TEBOW FOUNDATION
A Night to Shine.
That is what this event was called. The Night to Shine Event is a part of the Tim Tebow Foundation, where they are committed to celebrating those with special needs and puts on an amazing prom for them!!! According to the website, more than 200 host churches in 48 states and 8 countries hosted Night to Shine events. That’s more than 70,000 volunteers and 30,000 honored guests sharing this same amazing prom experience on the same night around the world. I’m sure every prom was amazing, but I gotta say, here in Alaska, we had a BLAST!
Ethan and I attend ChangePoint and are so in love with their passion and love for people! So when I heard they were hosting this event, without even giving it a second thought and without a lot of details, I immediately signed up to volunteer. I believe when God gives us talents and passions, He doesn’t just give them to us so that we are the only ones that can benefit from them. We have a responsibility to give back and bless as many people as we can and can I be honest?? I HAD A BLAST!! I even actually got on stage and belting out “Let it Go!!”
Each guest in attendance was named Prom King and Queen and to see the purest of joy in their eyes and the brightest of smiles made me not only cry tears of joy and but swell with pride.To see so many Kings and Queens in one place was absolutely breathtaking and I was so SO VERY proud to help capture their spirits! Showering them with love and crowing each king and queen with hugs didn’t just make their night, it made mine. Their spirits reminded me to never take life for granted and to always find joy in everything we do.
Every single person I sat and talked to or danced with or photographed left a permanent footprint across my heart and I’m so grateful for the friendships I cultivated and just every single soul I met. I truly truly felt God’s presence throughout this event.
The Night to Shine event was an event centered on God’s love and I was so grateful to be in a place where the most illuminating spirits shined brightly. Thank you Tim Tebow and Change Point for bringing this event to Alaska!! You gave us all a priceless gift and I can’t wait to be a part of it again next year. 🙂
